A Dream Discovered & Well Deserved
In 2016, Scott and Aubrey Elias partnered with family and friends to purchase an existing restaurant in the hopes of someday creating their own concept. They had spent over a year of searching when they finally found the perfect place—a high-end restaurant located on Lake Houston. They made it through the long, tedious process of business succession and were ready to begin realizing their dreams of restaurant ownership.
Set to close in September 2017, the transaction was put on hold at the end of August—just one week prior— due to a tropical storm developing in the Gulf of Mexico. That storm turned out to be one of the most devastating hurricanes in local history, Hurricane Harvey. In the coming days, the restaurant was flooded with almost five feet of water and the purchase was terminated. In a matter of just a few days, Scott and Aubrey went from nearing the achievement of their dreams to losing everything. After taking some time to recuperate, they decided to head in a different direction.
Rising From The Ashes (Well, The Floodwaters…)
The concept of Voodoo Grille was created as a Cajun/Creole-inspired restaurant intended to capture Scott & Aubrey's heritage, as well as the epicurean experiences that have formed their lives. The experience gained from working in upscale establishments is apparent in their attention to detail and can be seen in every aspect of Voodoo Grille. The decor, menus, and service have been intentionally designed to deliver an elevated, yet comfortable experience. Guests immediately feel a sense of heightened hospitality and a welcoming atmosphere from the moment they walk through the door.
Truly a Family Business
Some menu items are named after their parents, and many other recipes stem from family recipes dating back 100 years. To capture both their heritage and life experiences, the menu consists of some traditional dishes, influences from various cuisines, and prime cuts of beef—this is Texas after all! The menu, like all other aspects of Voodoo Grille, is meant to surprise and delight guests with fun twists and turns around every corner!
